No, you can drive a rental car or hire a taxi from Hua Hin to the Huai Luek Ranger Station. Once there, you must hire the mandatory park ranger 4x4 truck. Tours simply package the transport and fees together for convenience.
Foreign adults pay a 200 THB entry fee. You must also pay 850–1,200 THB per 4x4 safari truck, which holds 6-8 people. Guided tours usually include these fees in their total price.
There are no absolute guarantees with wild animals. However, visitors have a 95% success rate of spotting wild elephants during the late afternoon safaris.

We managed to see the elephants and much more with our guide pointing out all of the wildlife! Was very convenient to be collected and returned to our hotels and the overall experience included diner. Worth the money
Easy clean process. Group of 8 with efficient pickup at each hotel. Engaging guide. Good ranger with good sightings in the park. Open air riding in pickup truck was a surprise as well as focus on four viewing stations where most got out of the truck.
What a perfect day! M was flexible and allowed us to customize our trip in a way that worked for us. He was an excellent tour guide and we enjoyed spending the day with him and the elephants!
